Appearance & customisation

Customise your widget's colours, name, avatar, welcome message, and conversation starters.

The Appearance page lets you control how your chat widget looks and feels to visitors β€” without touching code.

Go to Dashboard β†’ Appearance and select the chatbot you want to customise.


What you can customise

Chatbot name

The name shown in the chat header. Use your business name or a persona name (e.g. "Aria from Acme Plumbing"). Keep it short β€” it sits next to the avatar in a small header.

Welcome message

The first message visitors see when they open the widget. Make it friendly and action-oriented:

  • "Hi! πŸ‘‹ I can answer questions about our services, pricing, and bookings."
  • "G'day! Ask me anything about our solar packages."

Placeholder text

The greyed-out hint text inside the message input. Default: "Type something…"

Accent colour

The primary colour used for the chat bubble, send button, and user messages. Click the colour swatch to open the colour picker, or enter a hex code directly (e.g. #C8922A).

Tip: use your brand's primary colour for a seamless embedded experience.

Avatar / logo

Upload a square image (PNG or JPG, at least 64Γ—64px). This appears as the bot's profile picture in the chat header and message bubbles. If not set, Pivra uses a default icon.

Show Pivra branding

Toggle the "Powered by Pivra" link in the widget footer. Available on Pro plan and above via White-label settings. On lower plans this is always shown.


Conversation starters

Conversation starters are suggested prompts shown to visitors before they type. They lower the barrier to starting a chat.

Add them under Settings β†’ General β†’ Conversation starters. Up to 4 suggestions are shown. Examples for a tradie:

  • "What areas do you service?"
  • "How much does a call-out cost?"
  • "Can I get a quote?"
  • "Do you offer emergency repairs?"

Live preview

Changes are reflected in the live preview panel on the right as you type. The preview is interactive β€” you can test the widget before saving.

Click Save changes to apply. Changes take effect immediately on all embedded instances.


Advanced customisation (Pro+)

For deeper customisation, see Settings β†’ White-label:

  • Custom CSS β€” override any widget style with your own CSS rules
  • JavaScript inject β€” run custom JS when the widget loads (e.g. pass visitor data from your CMS)
  • Hide Pivra branding β€” remove the footer link entirely
  • Custom domain β€” serve the embed from your own subdomain

Frequently asked questions

Can I have different colours per chatbot? Yes. Each chatbot has its own Appearance settings. Switch between chatbots using the selector at the top of the Appearance page.

My logo looks blurry. What size should I use? Upload at least 128Γ—128px, ideally 256Γ—256px. The widget displays it at 40Γ—40px but high-res screens need 2Γ— the pixel density.

Can I change the widget position (left vs right)? Widget position is on the roadmap. Currently the widget appears in the bottom-right corner of the page.
