What are SMS lead alerts?

When a visitor fills your chatbot's lead form, Pivra can send an SMS to your verified mobile number within seconds β€” before you've even opened your laptop. This is ideal for tradespeople, service businesses, and anyone who needs to respond fast.

SMS alerts are available on Starter plan and above.


Step 1 β€” Verify your mobile number

Before SMS alerts can be enabled, you must verify that you own the number. This prevents abuse and ensures alerts go to the right person.

  1. Go to Dashboard β†’ Settings β†’ Notifications
  2. Scroll to Mobile number for SMS alerts
  3. Enter your mobile number (e.g. 0412345678 or +61412345678 β€” AU numbers are auto-formatted)
  4. Click Send code β€” you'll receive a 6-digit SMS within 30 seconds
  5. Enter the code and click Verify
  6. A green verified badge appears next to your number

You only need to do this once. The verified number is saved to your workspace and used for all SMS alerts.

Changing your number

Click Remove number under your verified number, then re-verify with the new one.


Step 2 β€” Enable SMS alerts for a chatbot

Once your number is verified:

  1. Still in Settings β†’ Notifications, scroll to Lead alerts
  2. Toggle SMS alert on
  3. Click Save

The toggle is greyed out until you verify a number β€” this is intentional.


What the SMS contains

[Pivra] New lead from {chatbot name}: {lead name}, {lead phone}

If the lead didn't provide a phone number, only their name is included. Messages are capped at 160 characters.


Frequently asked questions

Does it cost extra? SMS delivery is included in your Pivra plan. Standard carrier rates may apply on your mobile for receiving messages.

Which number does it go to? Always your workspace's verified mobile β€” there's no per-chatbot override. This is intentional to prevent abuse.

Can I add multiple recipients? Not yet β€” one verified number per workspace. For multiple recipients, use the Email alert or Webhook actions alongside SMS.

What if I miss the OTP? Click Send code again. You can send up to 5 codes per hour.

Do I need Twilio credentials? No β€” you only need Twilio credentials if you're connecting a WhatsApp channel. SMS lead alerts use Pivra's own Twilio account.


Troubleshooting

IssueFix
OTP never arrivesCheck the number is correct and your carrier isn't blocking shortcodes. Try again after 1 minute.
SMS alert not firingConfirm the toggle is ON and saved. Check Actions logs for delivery errors.
SMS content looks wrongThe alert uses the lead form fields (name, phone). Make sure those fields are enabled in Settings β†’ Leads.
