Publish, pause, or test a chatbot
Understand Draft and Published status, use authenticated testing, and confirm public readiness.

Draft and Published
Every chatbot has a public status:
- Draft blocks public config and chat requests. Workspace members can continue testing from the authenticated dashboard.
- Published allows the public widget, inline embed, and direct link to load, subject to embed keys, allowed domains, account status, usage limits, and platform controls.
Installing a snippet does not publish the chatbot. Training a source does not publish it either.
Publish a chatbot
- Select the chatbot in the dashboard.
- Open Chatbot β General.
- In Publishing status, choose Published.
- Click Save changes.
- Open Chatbot β Install and resolve failed required checks.
- Reload the customer website and confirm Widget detected with the expected domain and a recent signal.
Test before publishing
Open Chatbot β Test. The dashboard obtains a short-lived authenticated preview, so the draft chatbot is not exposed through a public URL.
Test known questions, unknown questions, lead or quote capture with synthetic details, safety boundaries, and the mobile experience. Confirm that alerts and integrations reach the correct destination before using real customer data.
Pause public access
To stop new public conversations, return to Chatbot β General, choose Draft, and save. The installed snippet may remain on the website, but public chatbot requests will be denied until it is published again.
Changing to Draft does not delete conversations, leads, sources, configuration, or installation history.
If a published chatbot does not load
- Confirm the status was saved as Published for the selected chatbot.
- Check Install for the activation score and live signal.
- Confirm the public embed key and chatbot ID match the generated snippet.
- Review allowed domains if domain restrictions are enabled.
- Check Billing & Usage and account status.
- Verify that the website is not blocking
